Operator Training Simulators (OTS) are a key tool in today’s technology. Operator Training Simulators are detailed, high-fidelity, real-time simulation systems that are custom-built to match the dynamic behavior plant units and their associated control systems. An Operator Training System can be used throughout the plant lifecycle to train operating teams, resulting in direct feedback of actions, improving of process reliability and safety, and broader experience because of unlimited experimenting.

Additional applications are the testing, evaluation, and improving of procedures and optimization of overall plant operation and safety. Education with an Operator Training Simulator is therefore the foundation for sustainable and efficient plant operation.





Protomation OTS use high-fidelity process models. This means that the steady state accuracy of the dynamic process models compared to the real plant will typically be within the 98%.  Our OTS are fully real-time dynamic and cover the complete operating window, allowing accurate simulation and training in the entire operating range of the plant (from start-up conditions up to normal operation and upset conditions).






Protomation also provides direct-connect solutions to our clients. In direct connections the plant is simulated in Process Studio® and connected with DCS hardware and software. A connection with DCS allows for training in an identical operator environment using identical DCS database (controls and logics) as available in the real plant.






Process Studio® allows you to customize the simulator and create, store, play and replay your own training scripts. Furthermore the trainee’s interaction with the process and his response to process disturbances can be monitored on-line or stored for later evaluation by an instructor.








The simulator can be run in real-time, showing the same dynamics as the actual plant, as well as accelerated, speeding up the dynamics of the actual plant. Furthermore the simulator can be adapted to meet customer specific plant design and operation.
